Shihan James Casey is a well-respected Australian martial artist who began his karate training at the age of 18 under the late Frank Everitt. Shihan Casey supports a culture of hard training in his quest to develop exceptional fighters in the art and in life. He the life changing effects that karate has on ones life and is an example of his own methodolog. Perseverance when life gets challenging and the spirit of never giving up has seen Shihan Casey create his own empire of followers locally and internationally.
Shihan James Casey is one of the first Australians to referee at a world championship. As a 5 time referee at the K1 Championships in Japan (at the time the worlds largest tournament circuit), it is clear to see how Shihan Casey is revered around the world. One of his many highlights was refereeing the Kakuda VS the late Andy Hug in an international bout in front of 20,000 screaming fans in Tokyo. Refereeing and training with some of the world’s best fighters has certainly influenced his path in martial arts. Shihan Casey was graded in the Seidokai Kan system and appointed Australian Chairman for Seidokai Kan Karate.
Today Shihan James Casey (7th Dan) teaches at the same dojo on the Gold Coast Highway in Burleigh Heads in Queensland. Many thousands of students have trained under Shihan Casey and been recipients of the benefits of his teaching in ways more than just being able to defend themselves.
