Sensei Carl Sullivan is a 2nd Dan black belt in Shotokan Karate and a 4th Dan black belt in Kyokushin Karate.
Sensei Carl is an instructor and international competitor with over 30 years experience training and teaching Karate-do.
At the age of nine, Sensei Carl started his Martial Arts journey with Shotokan Karate. Eight years later he pursued his passion for full-contact Karate in Kyokushin.
At the age of 12, Sensei Carl was given the responsibility to teach Karate-do.
Some students were more than 30 years his senior but respected his ability to teach even at such a young age. The passion to help others by teaching began.
Carl promotes his students in National and International competition circuits as well as being currently active himself. He has a wealth of tournament experience and successes including winning the Japan All Martial Arts full contact Championships in 2012.
In 2014 Sensei Carl fought in the All Australian Karate Championships placing 2nd to the current Australian Heavyweight Champion. It was an epic match and one of his greatest achievements.
Nearly forced into retirement by injury, Sensei Carl had two major hip operations late 2015. Surgeons did not forecast a positive outcome but through belief, physio and light activities (which soon turned into months of intense training) – went on to compete in the World Full Contact Karate Championships in Shibuya, Tokyo 2016.
